Uncle Ben has been a part of Addison’s life since she was first born and he came to visit her in the hospital. I would say he has seen her since then at least one time a week... sometimes more and sometimes less. She is just so shy but once she was able to start talking, she wouldn’t shut up about her Uncle Ben. She couldn’t wait for him to come over, we would draw pictures of him when we were coloring, the list goes on and on. But then the minute he would come over to visit, she would go back into shy mode, ignore him and hang onto me for dear life. Then as he would leave our house, she would go to the window and wave bye and get sad he had left. It was absolute craziness how she acted. We would tell him how much she loved him but she just wouldn’t show it when he was around. We felt terrible for him because he tried really hard to be friends with her and nothing would work. Then one day a couple of months ago we had a break through! She suddenly realized that it was okay to talk to him and ever since then they have been best buddies and play sports together (basketball and baseball) with all her toys at our house. She shows off like crazy for him and acts like a total maniac when he comes over now. Wow, how things have changed. It only took 2 1/2 years!
So for the first time ever, I was finally able to get some pictures of them together laughing and playing “pillow” on the couch. We will cherish these pictures forever :-)
