Updates!

To explain my absense of updating the website lately... my parents, Derek & I purchased a investment property in Mesa last month and all of our free time (nights/weekends) has been spent over at the other house doing demolition and trying to get it back into tip top shape. Derek seems to be really enjoying learning how to take out walls, pulling out cabinets and sinks and putting up drywall. My parents are very knowledgeable on all this (past experience!) and are teaching us a lot. My favorite part so far is shopping (big surprise!) and picking the items we need and last night we finally started planting some plants in the yard for “curb appeal” (it is just dirt in the front and back yards!). It’s exciting watching the transformation and I can’t wait to put up the “after” pictures! Below are a few of the “before”.

So to update everyone on Addison – in a little more than one month, she will be 2!!! I can’t believe it. We are trying to plan her birthday party and teaching her how to sing Happy Birthday! Where has the time gone?? She’s finally starting to talk a lot more and surprises me every day with her new words and her copying ability (we are watching our language now). She is still sleeping in her big girl bed (crib converted to a daybed) but wants a real mattress now. She tries to go to sleep every night in our guest room and loves to pull the covers up on her and she gets so upset when we take her to her bed - so our next big purchase will be a full size bed and bedding (and I have already picked out adorable bedding for her!).

Our other news is that we pulled her out of daycare. She went for about 3 weeks and things never seemed to get better. She would cry from the minute we got to the end of our subdivision and started driving the opposite way of Gram’s house and I don’t know if she ever stopped crying all day. She was just absolutely miserable and I’m sure the daycare providers were too – there wasn’t anything they could do to help calm her. She was also going through separation anxiety with me and became very clingy and wouldn’t even stay home alone with Derek without crying the whole time - it was just too heartbreaking on all of us and we will just try again in a few months. I guess she just enjoys her one on one time with Grams so much that she doesn’t understand why she has to go to a strangers house with strange kids! Hee hee.
