Three Strikes and we're out!

So Addison and I just got back from Northern California. As with every trip we have ever taken her on… Addison got sick :-( I always have this perfect vision of the trips we take and showing off her wonderful personality to everyone and on all three of our trips, nothing has gone as planned because our sweet baby girl gets sick. We still had a really good time and Addison had a blast with all her California friends! First thing upon arrival in California, we went to Mimi’s with Lori & Abigail - the girls had so much fun jumping up and down in the booth for an hour and sharing their food. Abby and Addison got to play again together on Saturday and had a great time spinning, bathing and laughing! She finally got to meet Paxton, Taylor and Makenzie and had a blast at their house playing with their toys and climbing up their bunk bed ladder. We also took her to visit her four cousins, her great grandma (my Nonnie) and our long time friends Lonnie & Emily. She even got to play in the snow for the first time ever in my hometown of Arnold. She thought it was pretty neat except when she walked in it and sunk down (then let the tears begin!). I honestly think the best part of the trip for Addison was meeting all the new cats & dogs! She called all the dogs Kita and hugged and chased every cat!

Now onto the sad part of the story - our days were filled with fun but the nights were sleepless (for Grams, mommy and Addison since we all shared a room). The trip started out well... we flew out on Wednesday morning and though Addison was scared during the take off in the plane (we had to close the window – watching the houses get smaller and smaller really freaked her out) she did great the rest of the flight. On Thursday morning, she developed a horrific sounding wet cough and after talking to her doctor, we rushed her to the Urgent Care on Friday and they started her on antibiotics. On Saturday night something didn't settle well in her tummy and she was up from 10 pm to 3 am SCREAMING (and we were in a hotel room and lucky we didn’t get kicked out). Grams and I felt so helpless that night because nothing we did would make her happy (even putting on her Barney video didn't help!). After 3 hours of sleep (at 6 am), we were all up again and packing for the airport. We got on the plane and Addison did fantastic (I was SO nervous she would scream the whole flight - and so were the other passengers who saw how sick she was!) but we made it home and for the next 24 hours, she slept 18 of those! Our little girl was exhausted! I got her into her doctors on Monday morning and found out that she had developed ear infections in both ears. I have said this before but she is such a little trooper. She can be so sick and yet still have fun and enjoy all the things that life has to offer.
